Playout Comes to Austin

On 9/24 and 9/25, “Playout: The Game,” came to Austin Elementary to work with all students in their physical education classes. “Playout: The Game” is a fun exercise card game that teaches students about bodyweight exercises and uses them to play fun games and competitions. On the first day of the two day program, the creators of Playout taught the students a variety of bodyweight exercises, and told them the story of Playout. On the second day of the program, the kids played exciting competitions and games using the exercise cards.

Austin’s physical education teacher, Jonathan Peters, who brought the program to school says, “I think it was a great opportunity for all of the students at the school to get a different perspective on exercise. The response from the student body was fantastic and I love the idea of turning exercise into games for children!” Teaching students how and why to exercise is important is something that the physical education program at Austin is always trying to do. The Playout Program showed students that exercise doesn’t have to be boring and can be fun.

Playout offers students a great opportunity to exercise and have fun without the use of equipment or a lot of space. Please visit the website to learn more about Playout. Cards are also available for purchase. www.playoutthegame.com
